San Luis Obispo’s neighborhoods are part of what makes this community special. Every neighborhood should be safe, livable and welcoming, whether it is made up primarily of renters, homeowners, students, families or a mix of residents.

Good city government means adopting clear rules and enforcing them fairly and consistently across the community. Residents should not have to repeatedly ask City Hall to address the same problems before something gets done.

Renters also deserve safe, well-maintained homes. Brett supports holding property owners accountable for maintaining rental housing and addressing conditions that affect both tenants and surrounding neighborhoods.

Brett believes listening to residents should be part of City Hall’s everyday decision-making. Neighborhoods have different needs, and the people most affected by city decisions deserve to be heard before those decisions are made.
