Growing up in San Luis Obispo, Brett spent countless hours biking the trails around town and exploring the surrounding hills and open space. He still bikes almost daily with his dogs, connecting with his neighbors and the community. For over 30 years, Brett was a familiar face downtown, collecting the city’s parking meters. Along the way, he got to know residents, business owners and visitors, giving directions, recommending local breakfast spots and helping people find their way around town.

Brett also served on the San Luis Obispo Planning Commission, participating in General Plan updates and helping develop the city’s first Downtown Concept Plan. For many years, he has volunteered with Residents for Quality Neighborhoods, advocating for neighborhood livability.

Having watched San Luis Obispo grow and change, Brett believes good decisions begin with listening to the people who live here. Too often, residents can feel like their voices come after those of powerful institutions and other well-connected interests. Brett is running for City Council to change that. He will bring an independent voice to City Hall, listen to residents first, and make sure the people who call SLO home have a meaningful say in the decisions that shape their community.
